Seminar on Georgian-Abkhazian conflict in Austria
The 12th meeting in the Georgian-Abkhazian Dialogue, a series of seminars on the conflict between Georgia and Abkhazia and its peaceful resolution, was held in Stadtschlaining, Austria, on December 15-20, 2003. The series is aimed at arranging a "forum the participants of which can discuss and analyze opportunities and obstacles in the process of the conflict resolution in the atmosphere promoting creative thinking, realism and mutual respect," reads a press release on the results of the meeting. Participants discussed a political situation in Georgia and Abkhazia and opportunities that appear due to the change of power in Tbilisi.
Oleg Arshba, Beslan Butba, Ilya Gamisoniya, Manana Gurguliya, Leonid Lakerbaya, and Stanislav Lakoba presented the Abkhazian side at the seminar. The Georgian one was presented by David Darchiashvili, Koba Davitashvili, Zurab Erkvaniya, Giorgy Kacharava, Konstantin Kublashvili, Shalva Pichkhadze, and Paata Zakareishvili. They all participated in the seminar as individuals not as representatives of any organizations or departments.
Seminars within the framework of the Georgian-Abkhazian Dialogue are arranged by the Berghof Research Center for Constructive Conflict Management, Berlin, and the Conciliation Resources organization, London.
