Nizhny Novgorod Court orders to pay pensions to families of soldiers killed in Chechnya

The Kanavino District Court of Nizhny Novgorod granted the lawsuit of the charity fund of the soldiers' mothers "Mother's Right" against the district administration of the Pension Fund (PF) of the Russian Federation, which rejected monthly cash pensions to four widows of servicemen killed in Chechnya.

"The department of the Pension Fund in the Kanavino District of Nizhny Novgorod rejected monthly cash pensions to four widows of military action veterans killed in Chechnya in different years, although these pensions should be made to all people, whose relatives were killed during their performance of military duties," said Veronika Marchenko, Chair of the Fund Board.

According to her, the PF had initially set pensions to two widows, but then rejected. The PF rejected to pay social support pensions to two other widows at once, explaining the decision by the fact that all widows were able to work and not reached a retirement age, the "Interfax" reports.

Zarema Yusupova, a lawyer of the fund "Mother's Right" represented the widows' interests. She outlined the position of the fund: "In connection with the deaths of spouses their widows were entitled to social support measures stipulated by the Law "On veterans". All the widows since the deaths of their spouses were entitled to receive survivor's pensions. Accordingly, they have the rights to social support measure."

The lawyer demanded to recognize the widows' rights to the monthly cash pensions, rule unlawful defendant's refusals, oblige it to pay the debts. The judge fully granted the claims, the website "Civitas.ru" reports.
