Arrested sniper confessed to murder of Ingush deputy interior minister
Private Fyodor Voronin, the sniper under the contract who was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Ingush Deputy Interior Minister Apti Khakiyev, has confessed to his crime, a source at Ingush law-enforcement agencies reported on December 30.
"The arrested soldier explained that he was hunting birds. According to him, he hit the car where the deputy interior minister was by accident," said the source.
He also said that Voronin was taken to the Ingush Interior Ministry's investigatory isolation ward.
Fyodor Voronin was a sniper at a picket in Sunzhensky district of Ingushetia.
The car with Ingush Deputy Interior Minister Apti Khakiyev was fired in Sunzhensky district of Ingushetia at about 4 p.m. Moscow time on December 28. The victim died in the hospital from wounds.
