Schoolgirl from Ingushetia convicted in Chechnya for helping militants
A 16-year-old schoolgirl from Ingushetia was convicted by the court in Chechnya for assistance to participants of the armed underground. The underage girl was sentenced to imprisonment to be served in a juvenile correctional facility.
"On October 18, the Achkhoi-Martan District Court announced its verdict against the 16-year-old resident of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, who was accused of committing a crime under Part 5 of Article 33 and Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (aiding members of illegal armed formations). The investigators revealed that, in the period from last July to this June, a schoolgirl of the 11th class was engaged in supplying food to militants," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a representative of the republic's law enforcement agencies.
According to him, the investigators revealed that in the summer of 2010, the schoolgirl got acquainted via the Internet with an active member of the armed underground and agreed to assist him. The girl repeatedly travelled to Chechnya, where she received money from militants. For this money she purchased food at the market in Ingushetia, then transported it to Chechnya and left in the cache, equipped at the outskirts of the village of Stary Achkhoi of Achkhoi-Martan District of the republic.
This June, the girl was detained by Chechen police near the village of Stary Achkhoi.
The court took into account the juvenile age of the defendant and her sincere repentance and sentenced her to four months of imprisonment to be served in a juvenile correctional facility with restriction of freedom for a term of one year.
Besides, after completion of her sentence, the girl shall be specially registered and shall be under the control of the law enforcement agencies.
