Militia of Ingushetia tries to search the house of Chechnya parliament member
On March 14, 2006, the representative office of the Chechen Republic in the Republic of Ingushetia (RI) sent an address to the RI President M. Zyazikov, RI parliament speaker M. Sakalov and minister of internal affairs B. Khamkhoev, containing a request to take appropriate measures against illegal actions by law enforcement officers of the Republic of Ingushetia. This has been reported to the "Caucasian Knot" by the "Chechen Committee for National Salvation."
The problem in this case is about illegal actions by law enforcement bodies of Sunzhen district in Ingushetia with regard to Beldurov Sharap Abievich, chair of the Committee on Inter-parliamentary and External Ties of the Chechen Republic.
"On March 14, 2006 at 7 a.m., officers of Sunzhen district internal affairs department," runs the address, "surrounded the house where Beldurov temporarily resides. Armed people arrived in 2 cars without state number plates (a white "Zhiguli", model 07, and a green "Niva"), jumped over the fence, opened the gates and surrounded the house along its perimeter, checking the deserted garage and the shed on the way.
Then they tried to open the house door by powerful blows, following which the MP's wife opened the door herself. Then three persons wearing masks and camouflage, armed with machine-guns, entered the house and tried to make a search without producing any documents or sanction for the search."
However, Beldurov showed them his ID card of the Chechen parliament member and requested the documents of the militia officers, following which the Sunzhen district militia officers, left the house and the yard of Sh. Beldurov, accompanied by crying of little children and wondering glances of the neighbours.
For reference, in 2004, when Beldurov acted as representative of the Chechen government in Ingushetia, he was subjected to violence by Sunzhen district militia officers but, despite the medical expert examination report and witness testimonies, not a single officer was punished for exceeding their authority.
