Rasul Kudaev arrested in Kabardino-Balkaria deprived of medicines
The former inmate of the American prison in Guantanamo Rasul Kudaev who is held in pre-trial prison of Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, is still unable to get necessary medicines and the food which he needs due to his state of health. This has been reported by Fatimat Tekaeva, mother of the detainee, who is refused the opportunity to pass medicines to her son, while the food parcels are limited in weight.
"Rasul is very ill and it is critical for his health to take certain medicines without which he may simply die," says Fatimat Tekaeva. "However, they do not let me bring medicines, refer me from one boss to another. They do not want to listen to me."
Fatimat Tekaeva addressed Alexei Sovrulin, prosecutor of Kabardino-Balkaria and head of the RF investigation group for SFO, wrote letters and applications but with no success.
Fatimat Tekaeva relates: "Rasul was detained on October 18 on the suspicion that he had taken part in an attack on law enforcement agencies. Meanwhile, there is no evidence on his involvement in the events, apart from the testimony of other detainees, obtained under torture. Rasul himself has been severely beaten, it is testified to by Komissarova Irina, his former lawyer who subsequently was dismissed from the case, and photographic materials. I knew nothing of Rasul's whereabouts for a long time because he was taken from the Nalchik pre-trial prison to the Pyatigorsk prison, and nobody informed me about it. Rasul had to do without a lawyer for a long time, but recently we have hired another lawyer."
Fatimat Tekaeva hopes it will be possible to prove in court that Rasul was not involved into the October 13 events in Nalchik. However, according to Tekaeva, he needs to stay alive till then, and for this he has to take medicines and have a proper diet.
