23 February is International Day of Actions Against War in Chechnya
The Antiwar Club and Committee for Antiwar Actions have issued a statement in which they called upon everybody to "join the actions aimed at the cessation of war in Chechnya, establishment of the United Nations Interim Administration in Chechnya and political settlement of the conflict" on 23 February, the day of memory of people fallen victims to Stalin's deportation.
As the Transnational Radical Party reported, demonstrations in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Chechen people's deportation on 23 February 1944 will be held in Brussels, Rome, Moscow, Prague, and Vilnius on 23 February 2004, at the call of Chechen refugees' communities in Europe, support committees for Chechnya, the Transnational Radical Party and other organizations.
According to preliminary information, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Ryazan are those Russian cities, in addition to Moscow, where the actions are being prepared.
