North Ossetia holds action to commemorate victims of armed conflict in August 2008

On August 8, more than 300 persons gathered in Vladikavkaz in front of the temple of Saint George to attend the action "Candle of Memory", dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the conflict in South Ossetia.

Residents of the city, representatives of the Cossacks, the ministries and the institutions of the republic came to light candles in memory of the victims.

The action included screening of a film about the events in August 2008, which watched by people, gathered at the temple.

"For each of us residents of North Ossetia, independently of our nationalities, the events of August 2008 became a personal tragedy and misfortune. We share with the people of South Ossetia the severity of grief struck at the nation, and we express our sincere condolences to all people, who lost their relatives and friends in that days. Time passes; however, the pain of casualties will never go away," emphasized Taimuraz Mamsurov, the head of North Ossetia, in his telegram, addressed to Leonid Tibilov, President of South Ossetia.
