Court upholds verdict to ex-official of Volgograd Mayoralty accused of overstating orphans' apartments
The judicial panel on civil cases of the Volgograd Regional Court upheld the decision of the Dzerzhinsky District Court of Volgograd with regard to Igor Maksimchuk, Chief of the Department for housing policy of the city administration, who was accused of overestimating the costs of apartments, purchased for orphans.
According to the Court, Igor Maksimchuk must return to the regional budget more than 1.5 million roubles.
The verdict, in accordance to which the ex-official is to pay 1.5 million roubles in favour of the regional budget, was pronounced by the District Court in this May.
The decision of the first instance court was challenged by the defendant by appeal. However, the judicial panel on civil cases of the Volgograd Regional Court found that the decision of the first instance court was lawful and justified.
