"Against Numbering of People" association founded in Armenia
"The Law "On Social Security Cards" means the same as the law on individual codes. It is inadmissible in the view of the religious, national and state security, human rights, and morality," Armen Avetisian, a representative of the association "Against Numbering of People" said to journalists. More than twenty non-government organizations, foundations and parties founded the association "Against Numbering of People". Its main task is to stop the process of introducing the system of social cards in Armenia. According to Mr Avetisian, in spite of the assurances by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia that the cards pose no threat as they do not number people any more, the fact that the cards are given for perpetuity and are not to be changed proves the opposite. Besides, the cards have items in which citizens' personal information - about their family, abilities, social status, state of health, political views, and other details - will be registered. The introduction of such a system will make it possible to obtain necessary information for money, which will pose a threat to the national security of Armenia, Armen Avetisian noted.
