Ingush policemen suspected of unlawful detention of woman with baby

According to the Investigatory Committee, Ingush policemen unlawfully detained a woman with a five-month baby for almost entire day.

According to investigators, on November 14, at about 06:00 p.m., staff members of the Centre to Combat Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia ("Centre E") drove away a 34-year-old Aina Kotieva, a resident of the rural settlement of Yandare of the Nazran District, with her 5-month-old baby. Aina Kotieva was suspected of knowingly false report of a terror act. The staff members of the "Centre E" detained the woman and her baby till 10:00 p.m.

After that, the woman with her baby was passed to staff members of the Russian MIA's Division in Nazran. They kept the victim with her baby till 12:00 a.m. of November 15 without completion of any procedural documents, the website of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.

The incident with the almost one-day detention of the woman with 5-month-old baby at the Ingush police should be thoroughly investigated, and the guilty persons should be punished properly. This was stated by lawyer Kaloy Akhilgov, ex-Press Secretary of the leader of Ingushetia.

"The case was instituted against unidentified persons; however, I believe that it will be not difficult to identify them and punish properly. Policemen must not confuse their duties with permissiveness" the "Ekho Moskvy" (Echo of Moscow) quotes Kaloy Akhilgov as commenting on the incident.
