Cherkessk SIZO personnel refuse to permit Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov's advocate visiting her client, advocate asserts
A staff member of the Cherkessk SIZO (pre-trial prison) has again refused an advocate to visit her client and demanded to obtain the permission of the investigator. This was reported by Elvira Aidinova, the advocate of Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov, a native of Dagestan, accused of murder.
Let us remind you that on July 13, Elvira Aidinova stated that Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov was forced to waive the defence and that she was not allowed to visit her client.
"On July 16, I again tried to visit my client... A staff member of the special division refused to issue a request, arguing that I should call and ask the permission of the investigator," Elvira Aidinova writes in her complaint, a copy of which was received by the "Caucasian Knot". According to the advocate's statement, such a demand is unlawful, since an advocate is to be allowed to visit his or her client on presentation of a warrant and an advocate's certificate. It is prohibited to demand other documents from an advocate.
In her complaint addressed to the General Prosecutor, the Department of the General Prosecutor's Office for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), the heads of the Investigating Departments of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for the NCFD and the region, and human rights organizations, the advocate asks to take emergency measures of prosecutorial response, order inspection, and give legal evaluation of the actions of the investigator and the SIZO personnel.
