Seven policemen, servicemen wounded in Chechnya
Three police officers and four Interior Troops servicemen were wounded when leaving Samashki, Chechnya, in the evening of March 25, a source with the Achkhoy-Martan district law enforcement authorities told Interfax on Friday, March 26.
"As a convoy was leaving the village of Samashki at about 8:25 p.m., in the area of a tin factory, unidentified attackers opened grenade and small arms fire at an UAZ-452 van at the end of the convoy," the source said.
The policemen and servicemen were on their way to take part in an operation related to the March 19 murder of Colonel Chersi Gatayev, chief of the Achkhoy-Martan district criminal police.
A team of investigators and detectives is working at the scene of the attack. A search has been launched for the attackers.
