Leader of Azerbaijan Diaspora shot dead in Krasnoyarsk
One of the leaders of the Azerbaijan Diaspora, retired militia officer Makhir Ilyasov, was killed by a shot to the neck in Krasnoyarsk on the night of March 23-24.
Ilyasov was head of the Azerbaijan society Aizeri earlier. He left this post a year ago and set up the second national society Azerbaijan.
The press service of the regional interior department confirms information about the murder of Ilyasov but refuses to give any comments. Ilyasov was murdered two days after another leader of the Diaspora, Rafik Mamedov, had been released since the court had removed all charges of murder, illegal storage of weapons, and banditry from him.
Another Azerbaijanians, Oktay Mamedov, was shot dead in the center of Krasnoyarsk in October 2003.
