Residents of dilapidated house in Tskhinvali fear that it may collapse

A multi-storey 54-apartment house located in the outskirt of Tskhinvali, which was partially destroyed during the warfare in August 2008, is in a poor condition and may collapse in the near future. This was stated by its residents. Eduard Dzagoev, the head of the Ministry of Construction of South Ossetia, states that in the next six months, no works for demolition of the house and resettlement of its residents will be held.

Some apartments in the building got out of order after the building was shelled. The residents of the house report about huge holes in the walls of the building and destruction of its balconies.

Some residents were accommodated in apartments in a new residential neighbourhood "Solnechny" (Sunny), located in the northern part of Tskhinvali; however, dozens of people still live in the dilapidated nine-storey building. According to their stories, they were repeatedly visited by members of various commissions, including even a commission from Moscow; however, their housing problems are still unresolved.

The tenants had cherished a hope that their problems could be solved with the help of mass media; however, these efforts gave no result either.

Officials from the Ministry of Construction of South Ossetia told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that No. 139 in Oktiabrskaya Street had not been put on the investment programme. Its inclusion into the investment programme for 2015 is under discussion.
