Rally in Volgograd calls Governor Bozhenov to resign
A statement demanding resignation of the Governor of the Volgograd Region Sergey Bozhenov was adopted by the participants of the rally dated to the Day of Fatherland's Defender (February 23). A letter with the same demand was also sent to President of Russia.
"Residents of the Volgograd Region need stability, strengthening of the economy and the social sphere, and security guarantees for our important and border region. The incumbent governor fails to cope with this mission," says the letter to Vladimir Putin.
The today's rally in Lenin Square was attended by about 400 people; it was organized by the Stalingrad Regional Committee of the CPRF with the support of activists of the following parties: "Yabloko", "RPR-Parnas", "Green Alliance", and the Society of Defrauded Investors of Sberbank.
The organizers of the rally stopped attempts by some protesters to expose anti-government posters, stating that they are outside the topic of the event. One old lady had to remove her poster "Putin – resign!"
The pensioner Galina Tikhenko, who came to the rally with a whole bag of posters, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that "communists forbade her to get out the posters." "I was told that I was a provocateur; I decided not to deal with the CPRF any more," she said.
