Nature-protection measures taken in Vladikavkaz are insufficient, say picketers against "Electrozink"

On March 2, Vladikavkaz hosted a picket against the activity of the metallurgical enterprise – the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Electrozink", which was attended by 12 people. They came out with posters reading: "We are against inhumane 300-meter sanitary zone of 'Electrozink'!" and "Save us and future generations of Ossetia!" The activists of the protest campaign, held in North Ossetia, against the operation of the "Electrozink", declared the insufficiency of nature-protection measures taken by the factory.

Despite their small number, the protesters in Vladikavkaz, who oppose the metallurgical enterprise "Electrozink", believe that this form of protest still brings certain results.

"I think our pickets are some constraint factor. If there were no movement and no pickets, I think the environmental situation would be much worse," Victor Magkeev, a participant of the rally and an activist of the "Communists of Russia" Party, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
