Rebellious general intends to become Adjarian defense minister
Avtandil Galakhabadze, a leader of the Adjarian opposition movement Our Adjaria, has issued a special statement today. He said that General Dumbadze had told members of Our Adjaria in a private talk he would become the Adjarian minister of defense soon. Aslan Abashidze brought up the question of creating the defense ministry's regional department in Adjaria as far back in 1998. Then the process was frustrated on the initiative of Tevzadze, and the president of that time, Shevardnadze, refused Abashidze, said Avtandil Galakhabadze. According to him, General Dumbadze's rating in Adjaria is very high therefore a threat to the State system of Georgia will be created if the defense ministry does not take preventive measures."
