12 rebels destroyed in special operation in Chechnya

Federal forces have completed a large-scale special operation in Chechnya, in the course of which 12 rebels were eliminated, reported the press center of the regional operations headquarters on the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus on April 21. "For five days, units of the defense ministry and army special operations force have been conducting a special operation to search for and eliminate field commander Doku Umarov's bandit groups hiding in thinly populated mountainous districts of the republic, which are difficult of access. As a result of the operation, 12 rebels were destroyed in different places on the territory of the Sharoy, Shatoy, and Itum-Kale districts," a spokesman for the headquarters said.

18 observation posts and 17 rebel bases, for ten people each, were revealed and destroyed during the operation, according to the headquarters.
