Armenian opposition to hold decisive meeting on April 27

"Those political forces and countries that say Robert Kocharian should stay and work till the end of his presidential term must understand that the hatred of the Armenian people for their authorities extends over these counties too," Aram Sargsian, a member of the political council of the Republic party and former prime minister, told the thousands of people who came to an opposition meeting on Freedom Square in Yerevan on April 21. "When the French parliament considered the question of recognizing the 1915 genocide, Armenians living in France surrounded the parliament building in Paris and in fact blocked off four streets leading to that building, but no French functionary, policeman, and not to mention the president thought of dispersing and beating the gathered people, he said. Aram Sargsian announced that the opposition invited people to the decisive meeting, which will be held on April 27. "All Armenians must gather here that day," he said.

Viktor Dallakian, a National Assembly deputy and secretary of the Justice faction, read out main demands of the opposition one more time: to release all illegally arrested people, to stop violence against opposition activists, to give a political assessment to what happened on Bagramian Avenue on April 13, and to punish people guilty of and responsible for the crime against the people.
