Irina Sarishvili warns Adjarian leader of possible terrorist act
Chairwoman of the League of People's Defense Irina Sarishvili asserts that a terrorist act is being prepared against the head of the Adjarian Autonomous Republic, Aslan Abashidze. "I warned Aslan Abashidze about the terrorist act two days ago and advised him to reinforce his bodyguard," Ms Sarishvili said. The responsibility for organization of the terrorist act lies with the Georgian leadership, according to her.
Tbilisi is deliberately worsening relations with Batumi since the Georgian authorities use the tense situation in the autonomy to justify their failure to meet obligations undertaken to the people. "The authorities promised the people to return Abkhazia and to settle social problems. If a new dangerously explosive center appears in the country, the authorities can distract people's attention from their obligations," holds Ms Sarishvili.
