KBR resident states fabrication of case against him
Riziuan Kamgotov, a resident of the village of Lechinkay, Chegem District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), has stated that he had been tortured by law enforcers. According to his story, a criminal case on possession of narcotic drugs and explosives was fabricated against him.
On July 1, Kamgotov filed complaints addressed to the Public Prosecutor of the KBR, the head of the ID for the KBR of the ICRF and the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".
"On June 21, 2014, I was detained by unidentified masked men, who, without presenting any documents, put a bag over my head and took away to some unknown place," Kamgotov says in his statement. After that, he was asked about where he had taken his neighbours, most of whom, as he said, are now wanted or have been detained by law enforcers.
Kamgotov claims that he was tortured with electricity; and then they planted heroin and a grenade on him.
He adds that is father of four children and a law-abiding citizen. He is currently under home arrest for two months.
According to Fatima Kumykova, Riziuan's wife, employees of the Centre for Combating Extremism have been pursuing Kamgotov for two years.
