KTC commutes sentence for beating builder Solovyov in Sochi
The Krasnodar Territorial Court (KTC) has considered the appeal lodged by the Prosecutor of the Adler District of Sochi on the verdict passed in the case of beating up Pavel Solovyov, a builder of the Olympic facilities. As reported by Solovyov's advocate, the ex-policeman Sergey Kuznetsov, who had been earlier convicted to 3.5 years in a colony, will spend there 2 months less.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April 2013 Pavel Solovyov, a resident of Novosibirsk, who worked in Sochi building the infrastructure for the Olympic Games, was hospitalized in grave condition. Later he told that he had been beaten up by a policeman.
According to the advocate Alexander Enin, the appellate ruling allows the convict to generally escape the real responsibility at further appealing against the verdict.
The lawyer has added that the convicted ex-policeman told the appellate court that he was innocent and asked the court to acquit him completely and cancel the punishment.
The victim Pavel Solovyov said that after the policeman's attack he became an invalid; and he intends to appeal against the decision of the territorial court.
