Lawyer Denga Djavatkhanov kidnapped by unidentified persons in Dagestan released

Denga Djavatkhanov, a staff member of the Kizilyurt Bar Association, has stated that he was detained and unlawfully kept by force for three days by law enforcers. The Kizilyurt police do not confirm the detention of Denga Djavatkhanov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 4, Denga Djavatkhanov, a staff member of the Kizilyurt Advocates' Chamber "Legal Aid", was forced into a car and taken away to some unknown destination.

Said, a brother of the kidnapped man, has associated the kidnapping of Denga with his professional activities, since he had received threats from the police because of his work. According to the brother of the kidnapped man, the incident is connected with the criminal proceedings against Isa Abdulkadyrov, a resident of Dagestan, suspected of aiding and abetting members of illegal armed formations (IAFs). The policemen allegedly "demanded from Denga to abandon protection of Isa Abdulkadyrov."

Denga Djavatkhanov has said that after the kidnapping, he was subjected to violence during two days. He has also added that he is not an advocate of Isa Abdulkadyrov; however, he has expressed his confidence that the incident happened to him is directly related to his job.

On August 7, Denga Djavatkhanov was released. According to his story, on August 4, his colleague advocate Arsen Radjabov filed a complaint about the kidnapping to the Kizilyurt GOVD (City Interior Division).
