In Dagestan, man accused of aiding militants states that witness was involved in beating him at the police

Imangazali Magomedov, a resident of the village of Shaumyan, Kizlyar District, accused of aiding militants and illegal possession of firearms and drugs, told his advocate that he recognized a policeman in one of prosecution witnesses, who had beaten him up after detention.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Imangazali Magomedov was detained on June 2. Power agents then searched his house and his mother's house, where, according to their story, they found firearms. After visiting Magomedov at the IVS (temporary detention facility) of Kizlyar, his advocate said that he had been beaten.

On October 31, his advocate Elena Denisenko lodged a petition to the Kizlyar Inter-District Investigating Department on the need of an additional inquiry into her client's statement that he recognized one of the policemen interrogated at the court session as one of the persons who had beaten him up.

"My petition is accompanied by photos and copies of acts on the presence of injuries received in the SIZO, a copy of the US examination of internal organs, where it is said that Magomedov has a contusion of the left kidney," said Denisenko.
