Conscripts from Dagestan and North Ossetia, not Chechnya, will take their service at Pacific Fleet

According to updated information, recruits from Dagestan and North Ossetia, not from Chechnya, as reported earlier, will go to take their mandatory army service at the Pacific Fleet.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 17 it was reported that one hundred recruits from Chechnya had arrived in Vladivostok for serving for the Pacific Fleet. The report of the RIA "Novosti" referred to Roman Martov, the head of the department of information support of the press service of the Eastern Military District. However, the Military Commissariat of Chechnya did not confirm this information.

Conscripts from the Caucasian republics have come to the Pacific Fleet for the first time in 20 years, the "Vladivostok News" reports with reference to the press service of the Pacific Fleet.

The Caucasus recruits are now inspected and accepted by one of fleet crews; and in the coming days they will be spread among the units and ships stationed in Kamchatka and Primorye Territory.

Let us note here that some parents of young Chechens do not want their sons to take their army service outside the republic, fearing possible conflicts with colleagues and officers, like it happened in 2001, when Chechnya held an experiment with recruiting 70 local guys. They were sent to the sports company of the Motorized Infantry Brigade stationed in the Moscow Military District; and a few months later they were all returned home.
