Stavropol Territory: police and Cossacks urge not to give national context to murder in Minvody
Policemen, members of Cossack organizations and the Armenian Diaspora reject the national component in the conflict, which ended in the death of a soldier in the city of Mineralnye Vody (Minvody). These statements appeared after the action held in the city on January 24. The territorial authorities have announced inspection of all entertainment places in the region.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 24, a non-sanctioned people's assembly took place in Minvody, which was attended by about 300 residents, who demanded from the authorities to fairly investigate the murder of a soldier near the cafe "Opera".
The measures proposed by Stavropol Governor Vladimir Vladimirov, namely: shorter working day of cafes and a ban on sale of alcohol, will be ineffective because fatal incidents occur in unregistered restaurants, said Strigunov.
Some people try to link the incident in Minvody with the tragic events in Gyumri; but they are not related to each other, said Georgy Safarov, the chairman of the Stavropol regional branch of the Union of Armenians of Russia, stressing that in Minvody there is no tension among Armenians and Russians.
Let us note here that on January 23 Yuri Bely, the Speaker of the Territorial Duma, said he would not rule out a total ban of alcohol in cafes and restaurants.
