Supporters of arrested oppositionists hold rally in Yerevan
In the capital of Armenia, about 200 members of the "Founding Parliament" carry out a protest action with the demand to stop the prosecution of activists of the opposition movement.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 7, five members of the "Founding Parliament" (formerly "Pre-Parliament") were arrested on suspicion of plotting riots in Armenia. Besides, Aram Akopyan, a regional representative of the "Founding Parliament" in Gyumri, was also arrested on suspicion of illicit trafficking of ammunition.
The protest action is being held near the KPZ (temporary detention facility) of the Yerevan Department of Armenian Police, where the arrested leaders of the opposition movement are being kept.
Zaruhi Postandjyan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia from the faction "Heritage", who visited the arrested oppositionists, has stated that the members of the "Founding Parliament" are being prosecuted for their political views.
According to the organizers of the protest action, the rallies demanding to stop the prosecution of the members of the "Founding Parliament" "will be continued."
