Rebel attack leaves 4 servicemen dead
Four Russian soldiers were killed when rebels attacked a column of federal forces in the south of Chechnya on June 3. "Yesterday, at about 7 p.m., a rebel group attacked the Russian Defense Ministry's column numbering 12 cars. The incident happened near the village of Ukhkaloy in the Itum-Kali district. Four contract soldiers were killed as a result of the sudden fire opened from grenade launchers and automatic weapons. Another five people, including one officer, received wounds of different severity. They were hospitalized," a source in the republican military commandant's office said to the Caucasian Knot correspondent.
Federal soldiers and republican law enforcers are searching for the attackers.
