Rebel group neutralized in Ingushetia
One of the organizers of an attempt on the life of the deputy head of the Sunzha district administration was killed and three rebels were arrested during a special operation in Nazran on June 10, a source in the Department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) in Ingushetia told the Caucasian Knot correspondent on June 11.
The special operation to detain the rebels was conducted by officers of the FSB Departments in Chechnya and Ingushetia jointly with a mobile detachment of the Ingush Interior Ministry. There were no losses among the law enforcers, reported the Ingush Interior Ministry.
"The 31-year-old field commander killed yesterday, Nashkho Khamzatkhanov, was wanted for membership in illegal armed units for several years. Besides, Khamzatkhanov was charged with a number of grave crimes committed on the territory of Chechnya and Ingushetia. According to our data, he also was directly involved in organizing and committing the attempt on the life of deputy head of the Sunzha district administration Galina Gubina in May 2004. The other three rebels, Pashayev brothers and Alikhan Dadayev, were detained," the source in the FSB Department in Ingushetia said.
A criminal case has been open.
