KBR musicians record songs of Terek Cossack women
The Nalchik-based record label "Ored Recordings", headed by Bulat Khalilov, is preparing an album with songs of the Terek ensemble "Kazachka" (Cossack Woman). To make records for the album, the company made a folklore expedition to the village of Ekaterinodarskaya.
A message about the recording by musicians of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) Terek Cossack songs arrived in August at the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot".
The "Ored Recordings" is an independent ethnographic label of the KBR, which seeks to achieve the authentic sound of folk songs, Bulat Khalilov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"We travel over cities, villages and auls seeking for performers of traditional musical folklore. The basic principle of the project is a field recording. The "Ored Recordings" stands against working in studio with archaic folk music. We find the live sound that fixes a specific moment of its special atmosphere and charming flaws crucially important," said Khalilov, adding that the goal of the project is to promote the folklore and disclose the artistic potential of traditional music.
The music recorded by the "Ored Recordings" is posted on the page of the project on the service "Bandcamp".
