Yerevan police demand from protesters to abandon Bagramyan Avenue
Bagramyan Avenue in Yerevan has been blocked by protesters against the rise of electricity tariff, some of whom sat down on the roadway. Policemen ask them to clear the roadway.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today in Yerevan members of the initiative group "No to robbery!" are holding an action against the increase of the electricity tariff. A rally was held in Freedom Square, after which activists marched to Bagramyan Avenue, where they broke through the police cordon.
The police gave time to activists to abandon time Bagramyan Avenue, which was excluded by Yerevan Mayoralty from the route of the march. The traffic in one of central streets of the city is paralyzed; there are about 300 protesters there.
Policemen are periodically addressing protesters asking them to clear the roadway; however, protesters react to these calls with deafening whistle and roar.
Meanwhile, the police pulled up additional forces to Bagramyan Avenue. About a hundred policemen dressed in special uniform and equipped with special means have been deployed behind the protesters at the intersection of the avenue with Saryan and Moskovyan Streets.
