Viktor Bogdanenko, the organizer of the action in the Rostov Region, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that drivers did not block the traffic; they only parked their trucks on the shoulder; and then moved down the road at a speed of 10 kilometres per hour.
According to his story, the police tried to oppose. "They scares us with OMON (riot police), however, all ended peacefully," said Viktor Bogdanenko.
The main demand of the drivers is to cancel the tolling system "Platon", he clarified.
The protests of truck drivers have been held today throughout Russia. Truckers demand to abolish the tolls introduced by the government for driving trucks on federal highways; otherwise, drivers threaten to stop work since November 15, when the respective governmental decree should enter into force, the RBC reports.
The "Platon" system is designed to charge payment as compensation for the harm caused to federal highways by vehicles having the maximum permissible weight of over 12 tons.
