H1N1 virus confirmed in 89 residents of Georgia
Five medical institutions in Tbilisi have switched over to emergency operation mode.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the first in 2016 death in Georgia from H1N1 virus, known as “swine flu”, was recorded in Tbilisi on January 17. By January 21, the number of casualties reached four. After January 21, no more death cases were reported from Georgia.
The H1N1 is a subtype of influenza A virus, which is the most widespread type of influenza causing large-scale epidemics.
According to the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health, as of January 25, the swine flu was confirmed in 89 residents of Georgia.
In Tbilisi, five medical institutions work in the emergency mode, said the spokesman for the above Centre, on the air of the "Imedi" TV Channel; while Kote Maisaya, a doctor of the Centre, which monitors with the swine flu in Georgia, has added that the health condition of most patients is estimated as moderate.
