High-capacity explosive device detonated in Grozny

A radio-controlled landmine was set off in the Leninsky district of Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, in the first half of June 5. "In the morning today, a high-capacity explosive device went off not far from the former building of the state philharmonic society in Grozny when combat engineers were passing by. Two servicemen received injuries and contusions in the blast," a duty police officer said to the Caucasian Knot correspondent on June 5. In the officer's opinion, the landmine had a radio-controlled mechanism.

It was already the second landmine explosion in the Chechen capital for 24 hours. On June 4, an Interior Troops soldier was killed and his fellow was badly injured when a self-made explosive device went off in a tumbledown movie theatre in the Staropromislovsky district of Grozny.
