Dagestani truckers report pressure of power agents
Drivers of heavy-duty trucks of Dagestan have reported about their summoning to police "for talks", after they decided to set up an association of truckers in the republic.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 17 in Manaskent about 150 truckers from Dagestan and other regions of the country voted in favour of creating the republic's union of truckers.
According to Marat Tsoraev, one of truckers' leaders of from Khasavyurt, at least four members of the congress informed later about the pressure from power agents.
He said that representatives of truckers from Kochubei, Akush, Izberbash and Karamakhi were called to local police departments for "explanatory conversations about what they should not to do."
Truckers from regions of Russia, including Krasnodar Territory, Dagestan, Volgograd and Rostov Regions, stood against the introduction of the "Platon" system of charging trucks for driving on federal significance highways. On December 9, 2015, drivers decided to create an all-Russian Association. Dagestan has become one of the most active regions in the campaign against the "Platon" system. At the end of December 2015, local truckers decided to temporarily curtail their protests.
The Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) refused to confirm information, voiced out by truckers.
