Aliev criticizes OSCE Minsk Group in settling Karabakh conflict

The OSCE Minsk Group is trying to freeze the Karabakh conflict and puts pressure on the PACE deputies, who rejected the resolution on the escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev has stated.

On January 25, Strasbourg started the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), which considered two resolutions on the Karabakh conflict: "The escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan" and "Cross-border population of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water". The PACE has adopted only one of them – about the Sarsang Reservoir.

The President of Azerbaijan has blamed the international mediators for thwarting the adoption by the PACE of the first resolution "The escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan", the TASS reports.

Besides, he accused the OSCE Minsk Group of fruitfulness of their efforts to settle the conflict. According to his version, the Armenian party "is trying to protract the process", the APA reports.

He reminded that Azerbaijan refused to sign an association agreement with the European Union, because, among other things, that, according to Aliev, the document lacked a "fair position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict."
