In Dagestan, number of swine flu cases increases: 108 persons affected
In the period of from February 1 to February 7, Dagestan has registered 4770 cases of SARS and influenza. Of them, 69% are children. Since the beginning of the epidemiological season, the incidence rate in the republic did not exceed the epidemic threshold.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since the beginning of 2016, in Dagestan, five persons died from the effects of swine flu caused by the H1N1 virus. In late January, the Dagestani Ministry of Health reported no need to announce quarantine. However, as of 1 February, in Dagestan, 18 schools were already closed.
In general, during a week, six new cases of H1N1 flu have been revealed in the region. Thus, since the beginning of 2016, swine flu cases registered in Dagestan affected 108 persons, the "TASS" reports with reference to the Dagestani Department of the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights).
On February 10, in Makhachkala, the Dagestani State Medical Academy hosted the conference "Influenza and SARS in outbreak. Diagnostics, medical treatment and prevention".
According to Feizulakh Gabibulaev, First Deputy Minister of Health in Dagestan, in comparison with other subjects of the Russian Federation, the situation with influenza in Dagestan is quite favourable, and epidemic threshold within the territory of the republic is not exceeded.
