Amtsakhara movement activist wounded in Sukhum
Garri Ayba, a member of the political council of the social and political movement Amtsakhara, has been wounded in Sukhum.
The incident occurred today, at about 10 a.m., when Garri Ayba was driving out of his yard in Sukhum, reported Abkhazian Interior Minister Beslan Beya. The shot was fired from a Kalashnikov automatic rifle. According to preliminary information, the criminal waited for his victim in the deserted building of a hostel situated not far from Garri Ayba's house and took the shot from there. Criminal proceedings have been instituted. The investigation is conducted by office of the republican prosecutor general.
Doctors say Mr Ayba has a perforating gunshot head wound. He is in grave condition.
Prosecutor General Rauf Korua told journalists that there were several versions of the crime, but he did not impart them in the interests of investigation.
The social and political movement Amtsakhara unites veterans of the Georgian-Abkhazian war of 1992-1993. Garri Ayba himself was decorated with the Order of Leon during the war.
