Georgian president cannot take criticism, NGO leader says
"The Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights non-governmental organization (NGO) often lays strictures on authorities. That is why it is not included in the group of NGOs chosen by the president to form the council," Nana Kakabadze, the leader of this NGO, stated. "There are very many people in Saakashvili's new council who were in Shevardnadze's council too. It means that the Georgian authorities always try to have around them those NGOs that produce a democratic image for them," Ms Kakabadze said. After the Rose Revolution, human rights violations are widely spread, which has attracted international organizations' attention, she added.
It is worth noting that The Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights is that very organization which called Mikhail Saakashvili a man of the year in 1998.
