Military convoy blown up in Chechnya
A column of armored vehicles of federal forces was blown up in the south-east of Chechnya on August 2, a source in the republican military commandant's office told the Caucasian Knot correspondent. One soldier was injured in the explosion.
"Yesterday, at about 4:30 p.m. local time, rebels set off a bomb of high-capacity when a column of federal forces, numbering 3 armored vehicles, was moving in the vicinity of the village of Agishti, Chechnya's Shali district. The bomb had been mounted on the roadside. Fortunately, the landmine went off a little late. Only one soldier suffered in the explosion. He was slightly bruised. He was given necessary help. There were no other victims," the source in the commandant's office said.
According to him, extra federal units have been sent to the region where the Agishti village is situated. They are cleaning the area.
