Car with Russian policemen blown up in Grozny
A UAZ car with officers of the Russian Interior Ministry's North Caucasian operations group hit a landmine on Khankalskaya Street in Grozny in the evening of August 9.
"A radio-controlled bomb was set off yesterday in Grozny when a UAZ car with officers of the Russian Interior Ministry sent to Chechnya from Tyumen Region was moving by. Senior Sergeant Aleksey Vaynalovich died on the scene. Two other policemen, Dmitry Kotelnikov and Aleksandr Maslovsky, received severe injuries and were taken to a military hospital. Doctors estimate their condition as grave but stable," a source in the Chechen Interior Ministry said to the Caucasian Knot correspondent.
A criminal investigation in the case has been launched.
