HRC "Memorial": advocate not admitted to Imam Magomedov
Rights defenders have reported that the advocate Israfil Gadadov had complained to the Prosecutor's Office about his non-admission to the SIZO (pre-trial prison) to the Salafi Imam of a mosque in Khasavyurt Magomednabi Magomedov.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomednabi Magomedov, the Imam of the "Vostochnaya" (Eastern) mosque, was detained on April 8. His advocate reported about traces of beatings on the body of his client.
Law enforcement bodies believe that Magomedov called his parishioners to terrorist activities and posted on the Internet "materials aimed at inciting hate speech." The court has arrested the Imam for two months.
According to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", on April 20, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) did not allow the advocate Israfil Gadadov to meet his client, who was kept in the SIZO of Kaspiysk. The advocate was told that "the Imam was taken to SIZO-1 of Makhachkala."
"On April 21, the advocate again tried to visit Magomedov, who was kept, as it became known, in block 'G' of SIZO-1 of Makhachkala. However, the on duty officer of the SIZO refused to allow the meeting under the pretext that all the visiting rooms were occupied," the HRC "Memorial" has noted.
In the opinion of the advocate, this "pretext is clearly far-fetched; since this SIZO has six rooms, and they cannot all be occupied for a long time." The advocate has filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office.
