In Karachay-Cherkessia, more than 800 people attend celebration of Day of Circassian Flag
This year, Karachay-Cherkessia has celebrated the Day of Circassian Flag with larger-scale events as compared with the past years. This was stated by public activists of Karachay-Cherkessia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that for the first time, the Day of Circassian Flag was celebrated on April 25, 2010, when Karachay-Cherkessia celebrated its 180th anniversary.
On April 25, the city of Cherkessk and the Khabez District of Karachay-Cherkessia held celebrations of the Day of Circassian Flag. The public movement "Adyge Khase Youth" and the movement "Adyge Khase-Circassian Parliament" organized a motor rally in the Khabez District, and in Cherkessk, they organized a march, an event of Adyge Djegu (traditional dances), and a ceremony of lighting of candles in the shape of the flag, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
"Those events were attended by more than 300 people," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Timur Zhuzhuev, Chairman of the movement "Youth Adyge Khase" of Karachay-Cherkessia.
From year to year, the number of people taking part in events on the Day of Circassian Flag increases. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Mukhamed Cherkesov, the leader of the movement "Adyge Khase-Circassian Parliament" of Karachay-Cherkessia.
"People start to realize the value of this flag," Mukhamed Cherkesov has noted.
