Dagestani SC upholds suspension of inquiry into Akhmednabiyev's murder
The decision of the Sovietskiy District Court of Makhachkala, which approved the suspension of the inquiry into the murder of journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev, was upheld by the Supreme Court (SC) of Dagestan.
Journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev was killed on July 9, 2013, in the outskirts of Makhachkala, becoming the 17th journalist killed in Dagestan over 20 years. The basic version of the crime was in Akhmednabiyev's professional activities.
Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev had worked as a correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" for more than seven years, covering acute topics. Readers of the "Caucasian Knot" nominated him the first among ten equals in the contest "Hero of the Caucasus-2013".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 10 the Sovietskiy District Court of Makhachkala rejected the complaint of the advocate Tumas Misakyan, who asked to recognize the suspension of the above inquiry and the inaction of the investigator in charge illegal. The advocate appealed against the rejection.
According to Tumas Misakyan, who was invited by the "Caucasian Knot" to defend the interests of the suffered party in the Akhmednabiyev's murder case, the consideration of his appeal was held today. The Dagestani SC upheld the decision of the Sovietskiy District Court of Makhachkala, the advocate said.
"The judge has announced only the operative part of the judgement; therefore, we don't know the motives yet. As soon as we get the full judgement, we'll decide on our further action in the case," Tumas Misakyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
