Court upholds verdict to Parpulov

The Russia's Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the appeal against the verdict passed to Sochi pensioner Pyotr Parpulov, convicted for treason.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 22 this year, the 60-year-old former air traffic controller Pyotr Parpulov was sentenced to 12 years in a high-security colony on charges of high treason. His advocate Oleg Eliseev accused the Krasnodar Territorial Court of violating his client's rights. On April 1, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" recognized Parpulov a political prisoners.

The Russia's SC has upheld the verdict to Parpulov and dismissed the appeal complaint, in which the defence pointed to the defendant's innocence and a violation of his rights, the RAPSI reports.
