Rostov authorities claim no money to pay compensation

Residents of Rostov-on-Don expect that the authorities will pay compensation for their property destroyed as a result of the flood.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a heavy downpour hit the Rostov-on-Don on June 30. Streams of water scattered cars parked on the streets and killed a 14-year-old girl. Several houses and offices were flooded.

Officials from the administration of the Leninsky District of Rostov-on-Don have announced that they will act only under their authority and recommended the city residents to insure their apartments next time.

According to official Valentina Pykhova, the district budget is short of money to pay compensation for the lost property, so the city residents should go to court at first.
