Advocates of Said Osmanov claim arbitrariness of investigators
Numerous violations were committed in the course of the investigation into the case against Said Osmanov, a Dagestani athlete accused of desecrating the statue of Buddha. This was claimed by his advocates. They treat the actions of the law enforcement bodies of Kalmykia as arbitrariness.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 24, the Elista City Court, to which the Supreme Court of Kalmykia had sent the case for retrial, pronounced the pre-trial restriction measure against Said Osmanov in the form of arrest for two months.
According to advocates Murad Velikhanov and Asad Djabirov, Said Osman and his defenders were unable to filed motions and protest against the charges.
The defence has pointed out to the fact that on June 22, the Supreme Court of Kalmykia cancelled the decision on re-detention of Said Osmanov in custody and sent the case for retrial. However, the judge of the Elista City Court ceased proceedings without trial.
The advocates have promised to go to the very end. According to them, "everyone must answer for own actions", including Said Osmanov, but "only within the law."
