Experts treat information about death of Umar al-Shishani as truthful

The report on the death of Tarkhan Batirashvili is to be trusted, since it was published on the resources of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia. This opinion was expressed by Mikhail Roschin and Akhmet Yarlykapov. The reports on the death of Umar al-Shishani need re-examination. This was stated by Alexei Malashenko, a member of the Scientific Council of the Moscow Carnegie Centre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 13, the IS announced the death of Umar al-Shishani in an armed clashes in the Iraqi town of Shirkat.

According to Mikhail Roschin, Senior Researcher of the Centre for the Studies of Central Asia, Caucasus, Ural and Volga Regions of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), the information about the Tarkhan Batirashvili's death "does not mean that he has been killed right now."

The opinion voiced by Mikhail Roschin was shared by Akhmet Yarlykapov, Senior Researcher of the Centre for Ethno-Political Studies of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Science (RAS). Meanwhile, Akhmet Yarlykapov believes that the report on the Tarkhan Batirashvili's death "does not exclude the question of how he died."

In his turn, Alexei Malashenko has reminded that earlier, it has been reported that Umar al-Shishani was captured by US Special Forces in Iraq during a special operation.
