Members of "Communists of Russia" Party go on hunger strike for resignation of Stavropol Governor
Mikhail Abramyan, Secretary of the Krasnodar branch of the "Communists of Russia" Party, and party members Yuri Yankin, Olga Zaruba, and Igor Minin demanded the resignation of the Governor of the Stavropol Territory "because of his interference in the electoral processes in the region."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the party colleagues of Mikhail Abramyan, who arrived in Nevinnomyssk on August 22, claimed he was taken away to some unknown destination. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has denied any involvement in the disappearance of Mikhail Abramyan. On August 24, he returned home to Krasnodar.
The hunger strike has been started today, reports Yuri Yankin, who takes part in the protest action.
According to him, Mikhail Abramyan was kept in a room for more than a day, then he was left alone in a forest belt, and he "had to travel to Krasnodar nearly by foot."
"It's actually a fact of kidnapping. We believe the incident is connected with the political activities of the '"Communists of Russia' Party," stated Yuri Yankin.
Earlier, an official from the Stavropol Territory Administration has stated that "the disappearance of Mikhail Abramyan is nothing else than an element of the pre-election campaign."
